I've
been looking at this for 2 years. Finally finished |
|
This piece is 15” [38.1cm] x
10-1/2" [26.7cm] It was taken from a photo off the Internet. It presented quite a challenge. I really enjoyed the interpretation from photo to veneer. The two problem site as I saw them were the Bushes/Chaparral in the mid-ground which I decided to do with Fragmentation and the biggest problem was the foreground Weathered Tree Trunks. I decided to try my hand at Sliverization. To effect this I needed to make some small jigs to form the slivers around the curved surfaces whist the slivers dried, this jig idea lost out to simply using thumb tacks to push and form the sliver(s) in situ. It was finished with 5 coats of water based sanding sealer and a coat of satin polyurethane varnish. Finally rubbed with Renaissance wax polish. 12 week work period, Scalpel cut. |
