| Red Oak Trinket Box
~ This box was designed with our very special friend in mind. Yes he
is an avid model RC aircraft builder and flyer. We thought this Marquetry motif caught the very essence of his hobby. Box #1 sports a Balsa Wood Bi-Plane (Title of piece) in construction. Set into a Red Oak background, the aircraft wood stringers are Holly with some Sycamore with a Black Dyed, 1mm veneer border all set into a border of Red Oak to match the box. The inside top and bottom have a 'Walnut Brown' felt fitted insert. It was sanded to 600 grit then 5 coats of sanding sealer applied with two applications of Polyurethane wipe on vanish to finish. It was finally finished with Renaissance Micro-Crystalline Wax Polish. Enjoy my friend. |

Box #2 designed and made for a very special friend of ours. In fact
she is our personal trainer in the Gym and loved everything
Elephant. Titled African-Savanna Elephants at Dawn. It has a single Holy band with an outer border of Red Oak Veneer to match the box. The inside top and bottom have an 'Walnut Brown' fitted felt. I don't like this particular felt since it shows the TiteBond glue through the felt. (maybe use a white glue instead eh?) It has 5 coats of sanding sealer sanded to 1500 grit and 2 coats of wipe-on polyurethane gloss varnish. It was finished with a polish using Renaissance Wax. |
